THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN JOINING THE
ARIZONA SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS COMMUNITY!

Arizona School for the Arts is unlike any other school out there. And as you learn more, we think you’ll find that ASA is an amazing place where your student will find the perfect balance between academics and creative expression.

At our core is a distinctive curriculum that intertwines college prep with the performing arts and provides students with a truly novel learning experience that sets them (and our school!) apart. Through our education model, our students learn how to think critically and creatively, collaborate with others, solve problems, and be empathic leaders.  They are equipped with the tools and experiences necessary to grow, succeed, and gain competitive advantages that colleges, universities, and conservatories take note of.

SHADOW DAYS

Want to experience a day in the life of an ASA student? ASA Shadow Days offer a unique opportunity for prospective incoming 5th – 12th graders to visit Arizona School for the Arts and attend academic and performing classes with an ASA Student.

ENROLLMENT OVERVIEW

The application portal reopened on January 29, 2024 to accept post-lottery applications! Applicants will be placed on the grade level waiting list [behind lottery applicants] in the order they were submitted. Offers will continue to be accepted through October 1st, 2024.

At Arizona School for the Arts, enrollment for new students is determined through a lottery system. To apply, you must complete an online application through the application portal. The application portal will be open from October 2, 2023 to January 21, 2024. It is essential to complete the application and submit all requested documents before the January 21st – 11:59 PM deadline to be considered in the lottery.  We strongly encourage all applicants to read the Enrollment Policies and Procedures for more detailed information and review the enrollment timeline.

Once the application is submitted, the school will send a confirmation email to the enrolling parent/guardian. Additional information required to complete the application for inclusion in the lottery will be communicated by email to the enrolling parent/guardian by the school.

On January 22, 2024, the school will conduct a random electronically generated lottery. All students with a complete application will be included in the lottery. After conducting the lottery, your student will receive a waitlist number. The first round of offers will be sent on Monday, January 29, 2024, and every Monday going forward.  You will receive an initial email, and it will contain either an offer of enrollment for your student OR a notification that your student will be on the waitlist and their waitlist number on the application portal.

*Siblings of currently enrolled ASA students or alumni should submit an application. They will not be part of the lottery process and will be placed at the top of the waitlist for their grade level.

TESTING AND PLACEMENT

Every student at ASA is on a path to prepare for college or conservatory success. That’s our mission! In order to ensure that students have the support and/or challenge they need, we make placements thoughtfully based upon prior grade reports, records, and prior testing. Both standard college prep and advanced programs in Math and English Language Arts are available at every grade level. In high school, AP and Dual Enrollment credits are also available. All placements are made once an offer has been accepted and records have been received. If the school needs more information to make the proper placement, you may be asked to bring your student to campus for an additional placement test/evaluation.

The buttons below provide the standard course sequence for middle and high school.

The performing arts play an important role in developing academic success. The goal for the ASA performing arts program is for the student to gain mastery in a specific arts area or discipline. Students are placed in classes according to skill rather than age/grade level. The evaluation process for requests for placement higher than the beginning level is designed to assist students in discovering the most suitable level of arts education that will stimulate and inspire them to accomplish their objectives. All incoming dance students must participate in the evaluation process for placement regardless of level.

ASA offers programs in music, theatre, and dance (click links for course sequences). Placement in ASA performing arts classes is based upon availability at each student’s performance level.

New students who have accepted an offer of enrollment will receive their performing arts classes by mid-May. All performing arts classes are assigned for new students based on the order of receipt of their arts request and their evaluation results. All art classes at ASA are limited by class size.
