School Closure Update

Today Governor Ducey and Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffmann announced that Arizona schools will remain closed for the remainder of the year. Please take a moment to read that announcement here.

Like you, we are incredibly saddened our students will not return to campus as we head into the last quarter of the year. The last few weeks are a time marked with important celebrations and meaningful traditions. We know our end of year events such as 8th grade celebration, Senior Recital, Junior/ Senior Prom, Showcase, and Graduation are rites of passage for our families. We will involve students and teachers in the planning as we create meaningful ways to honor their work and achievements and celebrate together.

ASA will continue to move forward with the remote learning opportunities that began today for all students.  We know you and students will have many questions; our administrative team will work diligently to address questions and communicate updates over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, students should continue to follow the weekly plans set forth by their teachers.  If your student needs a Chromebook or other required materials (as outlined by the teacher’s work plan), please contact Drew Maxwell at maxwell@goasa.org to coordinate a pick-up time on campus.

Your student may have items other than instruments at school, and we will plan a time at a later date for them to collect all their belongings.  We will also send correspondence regarding summer school and opportunities later this spring, so we can meet student needs and allow families to plan.
